Graph Editor tutorial

Graph Editor

This is a good graph editor tutorial that I have been using to help me understand the graph editor in Maya. I used it in Semester 1 for my previous animation module and I feel that it helped me but I also feel that I still need a lot of practice. This video was very interesting and it contained some very useful step by step guides to understanding it and it's applications. The various demonstrations and examples were easy to follow and not complicated although the man's voice was annoying after a while. I plan to   take this knowledge and practice until I become better and more confident with the graph editor manipulation.

I do not own this video.

Using fairly simplistic animation, this flipbook is a comparison between the exaggerated nature of a cartoon bouncing ball vs the actual ball due to dynamic physics. I feel that the timing incorporated in these animations are good and help the animations to run smoothly. There is much more realism in the second ball as it does not have the element of squash and stretch exaggeration that I added to the first one. In order to create the flipbooks I used

I decided to add a cartoon snake to the first once to also further the comparison. I feel that the link between the imagination and reality is present in these and that once I have a better understanding of the 12 principles of animation then I will be able to create better cartoons.
LEARNING CONTRACT

I will be punctual. I will do the directed study. I  will avoid procrastination. I will constantly try to improve my animation. I will go to class.
